Shane has suffers DNF at I-55 Raceway feature, 3rd in Semi, and next weeks plans

(St. Louis, MO - July 31st, 2005) -- We just cannot catch a break at I-55 Raceway this season. We went into this race knowing we would somewhat be in trouble. It was Mid-Season Championships and we were currently 28th in points due to us running at Tri-City the past few weeks. The top 18 in points were guaranteed a stop in the feature. In the heat race, I started 3rd which was a pretty good starting spot and I was running the bottom holding in 3rd place. However, after a few laps I decided to move up to the cushion but, I was not able to hit it correctly the entire race and I went directly to the back getting passed by 4 cars. This put me in the Semi, I started in 4th position and took 3rd away pretty quick. The top 3 would all battle for the Semi win but, what really matters was they were taking the top 6 to the feature and we were sitting in a transfer spot. I made a few charges to take over 2nd but, came up 1 or 2 laps short. We were starting 22nd in the feature. This was not good as many things could go wrong in front of us. In the front of the field the 5th place car spun out coming through turn 4 this built a traffic jam as many
cars were involved in the wreck and would not be able to continue. The top of the track to the bottom was a road block, the only way to get through was a little hole at the bottom of the track against the wall. However, carrying that much speed you sometimes cant just drive where you want to and I was not able to fully make it through. My right rear hit a spun cars left front which pushed my jay bar over causing my rear end to be pushed over. The damage looked like just body damage but, after 2 laps on the restart the tire would blow out do to it rubbing the frame as the whole rear end was pushed over. I limped into the pits but, we were not able to get it fixed. We will be back to I-55 Raceway next Saturday and hope for a better finish. Also, we plan to head to Tri-City Speedway Sunday. We are going to attempt another double header and hope for good finishes at both tracks.
