(St. Louis, MO - August 22nd, 2005) -- The Walters Motorsports battled hard all day long for the SLKA Points Championship Race # 9 win at the St. Louis Karting Assoc. On practice day, the day before race day Shane found something on his kart that really helped him out for Sunday's event. We found we had a bent king pin in the spindle which made the kart not handle to great. We fixed this one little problem and Shane picked up a half a second from his last time on the track. Evan would still go out and grab the pole in qualifying by very little. Shane and Evan would be starting 1st and 2nd yet again in the heat race. Shane would jump out to the lead on the first corner and lead flag to flag to take the heat race win.
Shane would then come in and find another problem in the chassis, it was bent from the flip a few weeks back. We bent it back the best we could for the feature and Shane ran the fastest lap he has ever run in the TaG Jr. class with the new restriction but, we would have another problem toward the end of the race with the ignition cutting out. Evan would go on to win SLKA number nine and Shane would finish in 2nd. This event is making the points championship battle even tighter with the Walters brothers getting closer in the points battle click here to view points (Click TaG Jr. at bottom of the page). Look for Shane to get all the bugs worked out for the Rock Island Grand Prix (Track Picture Below) September 3rd-4th. This sprint kart street race event pays $1,000 to win and is likely the most popular karting event in the United States. Be sure to check back on this site after the event for a race re-cap.
