Shane will head to I-55 Raceway this Saturday for PEPSI Nationals Motor problem discovered

(St. Louis, MO - September 16th, 2005) -- We spent a few hours at the shop this week doing weekly maintenance and searching for our ever annoying motor problem that has been causing our poor feature and heat race results. It looks as if we may have discovered our problem. After draining the fuel cell, taking apart the fuel line, taking out the fuel filter, taking out the foam in the fuel cell, and taking apart the Carburetor many times looking for anything to be clogged up. Our best guess would be our Air Filter which was not the best designed filter and it looked to be clogged up. The filter would not let the right amount of air into the fuel mixture causing our engine to run really rich. This is what was causing the motor to bog down under throttle. It turns out it had nothing to do with the great motor itself built by Hovis Racing Engines. We have now changed our Air Filter and put a K&N Air Filter in place which should greatly increase our track performance and results. We are very excited about the last couple races with the Walters Motorsports number 9 Caribbean Creme Sportsman. We will hopefully get a top 10 finish this weekend at I-55 Raceway. Be sure to check back on this site 1 or 2 days after the event for the race re-cap and results.
